Robert Filbee was born around 1578 near Lewknor, Oxfordshire, England to parents William Filbee (1552-1598) and Ann Smith (b 1554).
I haven’t been able to find his baptism record, but he was most likely baptised at Lewknor.
It is assumed that Robert married Anne around 1605 in Lewknor, sometime before their children were born.
Robert and Anne had six children –
- Francis b 1607 d 1684 Lewknor, marr Mabel Weeden
- Judith b 1608
- Ann b 1610
- Margaret b 1614
- Robert b 1616
- William b 1618
Robert wrote a will in 1626 and stated he was weak in body, a husbandman of Postcombe near Lewknor. He left bequests to his wife Anne, and named all his above six children. He stated that his two son’s wives (both named Anne) would be joint executors.
Witnesses to the will were George Stevens and William Filbey. The will is recorded in the Oxfordshire Wills Index as “Robert Philby”, 1628.
It is unknown when his wife Anne died, but sometime after 1626 as she is mentioned in her husband’s will.
