Michael Parrott was born in 1723 in Wotton Underwood, Buckinghamshire, England to parents William Parrott and Sarah Eggleton.
Michael was baptised at All Saints, Wotton Underwood on 28 April 1723.
The baptism record states that Michael’s father William Parrott’s occupation is a carpenter.
Wotton Underwood is a village and civil parish in the Aylesbury Vale District of Buckinghamshire.
In 1851 it contained just 253 inhabitants. The greater part of the land is in grass, and there are about 800 acres of wood. In old records the parish is called indifferently Ottone, Woothong, and Wooton.
The village is small and consists chiefly of cottages, to each of which a little plot of garden-ground is attached, built about 1817, by George, Marquis of Buckingham. It is distant 7 miles north of Thame, 10 miles north west of Aylesbury, and 3 miles from Brill.
At the age of 28 years Michael married Ann White on 7 January 1751 at St Marys in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. Ann was stated to be of Ludgershall.
Michael and Ann had nine children, who were all baptised at Wotton Underwood –

Michael was a yeoman dairy farmer in Wotton Underwood.
Buckinghamshire Archives holds a title deed in which Michael features –
24 Feb 1773 – Title deeds of messuages and land in Ludgershall
Lease for a year (release missing) between
1) Edward Griffin the younger of Brill, butcher and
(2) Michael Parrott of Wootton Underwood, dairyman.
Newly erected messuage in Ludgershall with appurtenances devised by Clement Griffin of Ham Green, Waddesdon, grandfather of Edward Griffin.
Ludgersall is three miles from Wotton Underwood.
Michael Parrott wrote a will on 2 March 1779, leaving the following bequests –
- wife Ann – annuity and morgages, securities, cattle, corn, etc
- sons Richard land in Waddesdon,
- sons John 200p, William 200p
- son Thomas 10p and cattle, corn, grain, husbandry utensils, etc
- daughters Ann 150p, Ruth 120p and Sarah 120p
- Grandson Thomas 10p, son of Richard
- cousin Joseph Parrott of Stowe, 1p
- brother William, 1p
Henry Beauchamp and John Beauchamp and T Prickett were the witnesses. His wife Ann Parrott and youngest son Thomas Parrott are named joint
executors.
Michael died in March 1779 in Wotton Underwood, and was buried there on 22 March 1779. The burial register describes him as a dairyman.
His will was proved four years later on 12 June 1783. Probate for Michael’s will was granted twice, once with Ann Parrott and Thomas her son as joint executors, and the second time after Ann’s death solely to Thomas Parrott.
Ann Parrott, Michael’s wife, died in October 17871, and was buried on 30 October 1781 at Wotton Underwood. She is described as the widowed wife of Michael Parrott in the burial register.
